On Wednesday this week, we took part in a mass lobby of parliament to encourage MPs to support the Homelessness Reduction Bill which is due to be debated on 28 October. Michalis Tiritas, our Digital Inclusion worker, met his local MP, Catherine West, and shared his experience of working with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. One of the key features of the bill is a greater focus on prevention, ensuring that people are helped before they lose their home. Michalis talked about the devastating impact homelessness can have on people's lives, often having serious effects on their mental and physical health.
This Private Member's Bill could transform the help available to homeless people but if fewer than 100 MPs attend the debate, the bill could be blocked, making support from MPs critical. For further information: www.crisis.org.uk/nooneturnedaway
