Christmas at the Cardinal Hume Centre

Over 800 people helped at Christmas

Christmas is often a difficult time for families on low income and young people experiencing homelessness. We were there to make things a little easier and to spread  festive spirit.

The young residents living in our hostel took part in lots of different activities over the festive season including: a Christmas day lunch cooked by two of the support workers; a takeaway get together on Boxing Day; a trip to Twist (an immersive museum) and the ever popular go-karting.

Local families enjoyed a Christmas party with a visit from Santa; a visit to the panto; two festive craft workshops; a drama workshop to help build children's confidence and a community dinner that brought many local families together to share a meal and celebrate the festive season.

We gave out gifts to over 590 people, including 455 children and helped a further 220 with food and essentials.

One parent who was delighted to receive our help wrote:

“Thanks to everyone at Cardinal Hume for the support I’ve received in the past and present. Your service gives hope to families like mine when there’s no where else to turn to, and it provides a place where you feel listened to. I cannot thank you enough for helping us, The support given has enabled us to carry on in life through the difficult and challenging times we’ve had to face.”

We couldn't of done all of this without the generous help of our supporters.
